Smokey the dog was miraculously pulled from the wreckage of all that remained of his home in Fultondale, Alabama on Tuesday. On Monday evening, a tornado ripped through several towns near Birmingham, leaving one person dead and at least 30 others injured along with piles of destruction of offices and homes.
According to WsbtvNews, Smokey is back with his family. Jason Williams and his family sought shelter from the EF-3 strength tornado in a storm shelter, but Smokey became lost in the chaos.
On Tuesday, Jason searched through the debris that had once been his home and found Smokey who miraculously survived the storm and remained unharmed amidst the debris. Several other volunteers, along with Jason, helped Smokey out of what had been the basement of their home. With a little help from his human friends, the dog jumped up and out – obviously in search of a drink of water.
Jason thanks God for His help:
“We’re a little bruised and scraped up, but other than that, God had His mighty hand on us,” Jason stated.
