A 16-year-old Yorkshire terrier was reunited with his owner after having been missing for 13 years; a woman found the dog wandering around Bordeaux, Tennessee last week and brought him to the Metro Nashville Animal Control. It was a tiny microchip that made it possible to identify the senior pooch named Conner.
In 2008, Dr. Karen Fox, of Apache Trail Veterinarian Hospital, had been outside in her backyard with the three-year-old Connor. The dog had wandered to the front of the house, and Karen ran over to follow him, but as she rounded the corner, she looked up and saw a red pickup truck pull over to the side of the house and scoop up the tiny pooch. She tried to flag the driver down, but the dog was stolen right in front of them. For weeks, the family searched for Connor and/or the truck – neither were ever spotted again.
When Metro Nashville Animal Control scanned Connor and checked with the mircrochip company, they notified Karen. One day later, there wasn’t a dry eye at the shelter as the two were reunited.
The reunion, however was bittersweet. Karen’s husband loved Connor, and every night he would sit in his recliner after work and brush the eight-pound pooch. Timothy Fox passed away four years ago, and never knew what happened to the tiny dog he loved so much.
We can only hope that Timothy is smiling from Heaven knowing that Connor has returned home.
