As if our dogs need anymore applause as to how great they are, how about the heartwarming story of Peanut, a Great Dane, who had just been adopted from the Animal Welfare Department in Albuquerque, New Mexico? This two-year-old pup actually saved his owner’s life just 24 hours after he had been adopted.
According to NewsChannel 8, Andrew Budek Schmuisser had been ill and often lost his balance, and a friend of his suggested adopting a dog for companionship and help. On March 9, Schmuisser went to the shelter and chose Peanut, a rather tall pup who had been at the shelter for the last four months. Large dogs often have trouble finding new homes.
It seems that Peanut was an extraordinary dog who jumped into action for his new owner within 24 hours when Schmuisser fell and hit his head; he also fell in a more than awkward position as his windpipe had become pinched shut.
i felt Peanut come up behind me. he cleared my airway by straightening out my head and then got behind me and gradually pushed me into a sitting position.

The two have been inseparable since then. What a great story of a faithful, intelligent and loving dog who just needed a person of his own to love.
