Forward progress for dog intentionally set on fire and a BIG surprise for Buddy

Admin

More than two weeks ago, a friendly dog returned to his home in Senatobia, Mississippi dragging an extension cord around his neck; his face blackened, his fur burned off, blinded and completely charred.

The Labrador retriever, who had been discovered in shock on Peavine Road in Tate County on April 22, had been set on fire; most of the burns involved his face.  Just days later, the Tate County’s Sheriff’s Office released a statement that a child under the age of 12 had purposely set Buddy on fire, but no criminal charges could be pursued because of the child’s age.

The Tunica Humane Society has been caring for Buddy, and although they are just as frustrated that no charges can be filed against the child, the volunteers and staff continue to concentrate on Buddy’s rehabilitation.

Buddy’s latest update indicates tremendous improvement in his condition.

“If you look closely, you will see Buddy’s fur growing back around his nose… And his nose looks perfect.
We are so, so excited about his forward progress!
Buddy remains a happy dog; can you believe it? His tail wags constantly, and he laps up the affection given to him by staff and volunteers at Mississippi State Veterinary College where the dog continues his treatment.
But now there’s a special surprise in store for Buddy.  A man from the neighborhood called the Tunica Humane Society and told the story about Buddy’s constant canine companion, Snoop. The dogs spent a lot of time on the man’s porch and loved to cuddle together. The two dogs were best friends and ran the countryside together.
Snoop was picked up by the Senatobia Animal Shelter a few days after Buddy was tortured for his own protection.
So have you guessed the good news? Yes, for everyone who figured it out. Snoop will be transferring to the Tunica Humane Society in a few days, and once Buddy is discharged from Mississippi State, he will be reunited with his best friend.
“We can’t wait to reunite these two. Nothing more comforting than spending time with an old friend.”
