Patience is a virtue, and for Chester, a friendly pit bull at the Euclid Animal Shelter in Ohio, it finally paid off! After a long wait of nearly 600 days, Chester’s big day arrived Monday morning. A loving family from North Royalton, seeking a furry companion, fell head over heels for Chester’s playful spirit and soulful brown eyes. The connection was instant – Chester showered them with doggy kisses and playful nudges, tail wagging a happy greeting.
Chester, although a lovable pup with lots of energy and kisses to share, needed a special home – one where he would be the only dog and one where there would be no small children. And Chester’s wish came true!
But the celebration wasn’t over yet! To commemorate finding his perfect match, the shelter staff surprised Chester with a ride to his forever home fit for a canine king – a limousine! Picture Chester, all smiles (well, maybe happy wags!), perched regally on the plush backseat, ears perked with excitement as he cruised through the streets courtesy of Lake Erie Limo.
His new human, Lauren Reitsman says Chester is right at home with his new family; doggy treats and toys awaited, and his home was perfect.
In August 2022, Chester and three other dogs had been found abandoned and left tied in a vacant house. It is suspected the dogs had been left with no water or food for a week. For the next 10 months, shelter staff worked with the dogs; Chester had been the worst with heartworm disease, mange and extremely underweight.
And even after he was overlooked most of the time because he didn’t do well with other dogs in the home.
The other three dogs found in the abandoned home with Chester have also been adopted. It’s been a really good day for the dogs.
Many thanks to the heroes who never give up.
