Buzz, a six-year-old black Labrador retriever mix who had been missing for six-weeks, was reunited with his loving family on Monday at the Orangeburg County Animal Control.
Since Buzz can’t tell us what happened after his owners, Kelli and Mark Smith were involved in a collision on April 14, Buzz was either ejected from the vehicle or jumped out. Kelli had been seriously injured and was taken to the hospital, and Mark who only had minor injuries, stayed at the scene and searched for Buzz. Their dog was missing, and no one knew where he had fled.
The Smiths posted photos of Buzz on social media hoping someone would spot their dog. Mark continued to search for him every day on his way to the hospital to visit his wife. Time passed, no Buzz, but his family never gave up.
And then came the miracle from the Orangeburg County Animal Control. A representative from the dog’s microchip company contacted Smith and told him his dog had been found.
“And do we have the very best news EVER!BUZZ IS SAFE!This boy was involved in a car accident in North, South Carolina about six weeks ago and his parents have been searching frantically for him since. Today, a Good Samaritan called to say there was a skinny dog on his dock that could hardly walk. Animal Control picked up the dog and thanks to his microchip, we knew exactly who he was! Buzz’s parents rushed to the shelter and there wasn’t a dry eye around. We are so happy for Buzz and his family.”
