On Sunday morning, an emaciated dog that was unable to walk or even stand languished in fright and pain at a park in the Chicago suburb of South Holland. Border Tails Rescue immediately agreed to help.
Meet Ruth; she was found in Babe Ruth Park and not only was she unable to stand, she was covered in wounds. The non-profit rescue transported her to their partner veterinary hospital where she is currently undergoing life saving treatment. Radiograms reveal she has what appears to be iron (or some other foreign substance) in her stomach and will need emergency surgery.
At this time, Ruth is not in stable condition, but there is no choice but to operate. She is being stabilized to the best of her medical staff’s ability over night and is scheduled to have surgery tomorrow morning.
“We know there are no guarantees and her current body condition makes it tough, but this girl is a FIGHTER! She has a huge army supporting her and we need all the good vibes we can get.”

Ruth remains in good spirits and loves to be cuddled and loved. Doesn’t she deserve a chance?
The current estimate for her surgery is $5,000, but if there are complications, the costs could go up.
