A New Zealand woman saved her dog from a house fire by throwing her out of the bedroom window before the woman perished in the blaze.
According to the New Zealand Herald, Margaret Fordham had been asleep in her home with her dog Daisy, alongside of her when the fire broke out. Neighbors and fire department personnel tried unsuccessfully to rescue Margaret. And even though emergency workers had been unable to rescue the woman, she managed “to throw her dog to safety before her death.”
Another fire broke out on the same property just two nights later; there was no one in the home at the time. The cause of the fire has not been determined and is being treated as suspicious.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Sam Mercer from the Wellington Criminal Investigation Branch. It is hoped someone’s surveillance cameras in the area can provide information.
Call police on 105 and quote file number 210812/6583.
Information can also be provided anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
Rest in peace Terri.
