In Kraljero, Serbia, a local rescuer would help to feed the stray animals in his community. On an average, Goran Marinkovic feeds nearly 100 strays a day – all expenses for them out of his own pocket.
One particular rescue changed two lives when Marinkovic discovered an emaciated puppy fending for herself in a field and using an old shoe for shelter and a place to hide behind for protection. She was so scared, she just cried for someone to help her, and as if fate stepped in, Marinkovic heard her pleas.
The puppy’s mother was no where to be found, and Marinkovic knew she wouldn’t survive much longer scavenging on her own, and when he approached her, the puppy rolled over on her back and surrendered. He named her Smesten, and from that moment, the puppy’s miracle began.
According to Bored Panda,
“I save animals that are endangered, that live on the street. I take care of animals because I love them, I love animals equally everything, cats, dogs, others…” It’s very sweet to see when people love all animals and want to help them in times of need.

Since the pup’s rescue, she has been vetted, well-cared for and loved. Within six-months, Smesten was beautiful and guess who adopted her? And although Smesten is a lot smaller than the other dogs in Marinkovic’s household, all are loving, rescued and ready for their new adventures.
