On Monday, a Medford dog walker accused of animal cruelty while walking dogs, denied the allegations calling the charges “exaggerated” and a “false report.” Frederick Ingrando, 33, was arrested by officers for Medford Police Department on Sunday after witnesses reported seeing the man hit one of the dogs in the heads several times.

The first video was originally posted on Facebook and showed Ingrando with a Golden Retriever being roughly handled. Two subsequent videos showed him arguing with a man about the incident and yelling racial slurs.

According to the police report,

This morning at approximately 11 a.m., officers responded to the area of Fellsway West and Sheridan Ave for a report of animal cruelty involving a man who was walking a group of dogs. According to witnesses, the man struck one of the dogs multiple times in the head and then lifted the dog off the ground by its collar in a harmful manner. One witness provided video evidence to the officers, allowing them to identify the suspect. The officers then responded to the suspect’s home, where he was taken into custody.

The five dogs in his care were taken to a local kennel and awaited being picked up by their owners. According to NBC News, none of the dogs were physically injured.

Ingrando has since stated he “loves” dogs, however the judge ordered him to stay away from dogs involved in the incident and their owners, but did not bar him from working with dogs.

Ingrando worked with the Rover app, but his account has since been suspended while an investigation is underway.

we were shocked and disturbed to learn of this abhorrent behavior – there is zero tolerance for this type of treatment of pets in our community.
