Sweet senior dog Fiona seeks forever home after 11 Years in Shelter

Admin

Thirteen-year-old Fiona (formerly Fergie) deserves a break! This loving pup spent a staggering 11 years in an Alabama animal shelter, yearning for a place to call her own. Now, thanks to the tireless efforts of Second Chance Shelter, Fiona has a new chance at happiness in Wisconsin.

Why Wisconsin?

Shelters in the southern United States, like Alabama, often face overwhelming pet overpopulation. Second Chance Shelter works tirelessly to connect these deserving dogs with loving families in areas with a lower stray population, like Wisconsin. This heartwarming mission gives pups like Fiona a much better shot at finding their forever home.

According to WmtvNews, there’s a world of difference helping dogs find homes in Wisconsin.

I mean, it’s definitely a work of love. You know, you don’t make any money doing this for sure. There’s a world of difference. Here there are no strays. There you see strays on every corner.

Golden Years Deserve Golden Love

Despite her senior status, Fiona is full of life and love to give. She’s currently settling into a foster home at Albert’s Dog Lounge in Whitewater, WI after her arrival on Saturday. The staff describes her as a wonderful companion, perfect for someone seeking a calmer canine friend.

Now Wanda has other senior dogs to play with and acres to explore. No more shelter runs or cages for this senior.

Fiona even had the unique experience of going to a store and checking out all the cool toys and stuff. What a joyous day for a “feral” dog who had to be trapped by animal control officers when she was barely a year old.
