In a dangerous landslide in Seattle, the Fritts family barely escaped as their home literally broke away from its foundation. Didi Fritts and her husband James, needed the help of firefighters to rescue them, but tragically their dog Lilli died instantly. Their other dog, Sammy was missing, and the family struggled with the sadness that she had also perished in the landslide.
According to the Seattle Times, it all wasn’t over yet because neighbors said they heard whines coming from the remains of the structure that had once been the family’s home. Remy Olivier, one of the neighbors who had heard what he thought was a dog’s bark, went over to search through the debris. They never found Sammy’s remains, but then they heard the cries again coming from where they had found Lilli’s body.
Firemen arrived after the family called for help, but as they searched the crying stopped. But then came the miracle – because seeing the wreckage of what remained of the Fritts’ home, what else could it be called when firemen found Sammy, six days later, sitting there beside the deceased body of Lilli. She had likely survived drinking rainwater and had been waiting for someone to help his bonded friend.
“We just pulled apart the entire floor and we pulled her out,” Olivier said. “She looked like she had just enough room to survive. She wasn’t crushed by anything, or punctured. She had just a tiny bit of room. I guess she was surviving on rainwater the past couple of days. It’s just unbelievable that she’s still alive.

The three-year-old black Labrador retriever was rescued and carried out of the rubble to be reunited with her family. A veterinarian checkup confirmed she was healthy. Miracles do happen. Never give up!
