In Washington Park, Indianapolis, Officer Frazier from the North District IMPD spotted a German shepherd wandering by himself in the park on Saturday morning. After spending time with the dog in order to gain his trust by offering him snacks and a can of dog food, the dog’s leash and collar were found on top of a bloodied blanket.
The stressed out pooch had a serious injury to his rear leg, and it was clear he had been dumped – probably his owner didn’t want to pay for the dog to be treated by a veterinarian. After 45 minutes, a team of officers were able to convince the dog they were there to help and were able to get his collar on in order to be transported to a local vet for treatment.
There is just no excuse to abandon a pet on the streets.
Dropping him off in the park caused him extreme stress and we are sure he was waiting for his family to return. He is safe no and hope he finds his forever home.
