An adorable purebred bully arrived at the veterinarian displaying symptoms of pyometra. The disease is described as a life threatening uterine infection that most typically affects older, intact (or unspayed), female dogs. This dog had just recently given birth to a litter of puppies.
The vet refused to do it and called us. She’s happy, playful and young. She does have some health issues but nothing to euthanize over.

Pyometra has deadly consequences if left untreated, and the safest treatment is ovariohysterectomy. Her name is Lila, and she was brought to the veterinarian by her owner thought to be a breeder. Lila had recently delivered puppies; she still has been producing milk. And here’s where the confusion and anger set in.
So just to be clear … she just had babies… that the owner will sell for $$$$ and she has an issue is sick… and you kill her instead of taking care of the one that pays your bills … okay … got it.
