Look at her face; this is Athena and she’s barely one year old, but the start of her life has been heartbreaking. She was just surrendered to Miami-Dade Animal Services on April 18, but her leg injury is severe, and she needs emergency veterinarian care to both save her life and her leg.
Athena’s notes from the shelter vet includes the following:
P presented to the clinic after being surrendered for injury to leg . P is QAR carried in MM pink tacky crt 2s Dehydrated Story is she was HBC 1 week ago
BCS 3/9 underweight on purina scale
P came wrapped in numerous layers of make shift bandage (sheets, satin, clothes, etc.) on the rear right limb and the abdomen was also wrapped in multiple layers. After pictures were taken for possible investigation these were cut off.

Athena’s right rear leg is severely infected by a degloving injury involving the tarsus and metatarsals. Her history is quite vague, but notes indicate she has been receiving bandaging at home. She has no history of having or receiving any medication. Athena is now at risk for sepsis.
