No one knew where Peppy came from or what he had been through, but when he arrived at the shelter, he would lunge at the gate and then run to the back of his shelter cage. He barked at the handler with a tensed body, his tail tucked, his eyes dilated and a closed mouth. He didn’t want to be leashed and barked and bit at it. When the handler was finally able to toss the leash around Peppy’s neck, he exited the kennel without any fuss and walked obediently on the leash.
Before his was assessed, he was given some time to decompress. He came over and sniffed the handler’s legs and hand even though he was nervous. Once t he handler was ready, she called out to Peppy and he walked over. He allowed his ears, teeth, stomach, rear, feet and tail to be handled, and at the end of the assessment, he walked away, but came back.
A few days later, Peppy was made available for public adoption; it was required he go to an adult only home with an experienced handler.
Recently Peppy was returned to the shelter.
UPDATE! He was adopted and the adopter knew he is extremely fearful and may bite but the Adopter RETURNED him to the Shelter and gave Biting as the reason. Now he is in quarantine for 10 days and will need a FOSTER and RESCUE to save him Please Share This sweet muffin came in as a stray and he’s really missing home. Please Share to help find his family.
