In North Stonington, Connecticut, a beautiful, young dog sat obediently by the side of the road waiting for his family to return. More than likely, he had been dumped, but he didn’t know that. He sat on the side of that dark road, and even got excited when he saw the headlights of the shelter’s vehicle approaching to rescue him, darn sure it was his owner who had accidentally forgotten him and came back to take him home.
According to the North Stonington Animal Control, it wasn’t until the frightened dog realized it wasn’t his family, that he backed away and mourned his fate. When brought to the shelter, he cowered in the corner of his kennel and tried his best to disappear in the corner.
A phone call would be great. Let us know his name, some things he likes so we can convince him that cowering in his kennel is not something he has to dog.
So, whoever abandoned this sweet dog, please contact the shelter and tell the staff what made you think just dropping your dog out of the car onto the side of the road was a sound decision? This poor dog is so scared, and to think you “dumped him like garbage and not worthy of looking for someone to help get him to a better place.”
