Just two weeks ago in Memphis, Tennessee, fast acting Good Samaritans saved the life of a dog intentionally set on fire in the Nutbush community near Chelsea and Graham. It was the worst sight neighbors had ever seen, but no one hesitated to help.

According to Fox13 News, a surveillance video showed neighbors racing to the dog’s rescue – one person with a garden hose and another woman carrying a bucket of water from her pool. The video, even though it was very difficult to watch, showing people dousing the dog with water, went viral on social media. A reward of $16,000 has now been offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) who intentionally set the dog on fire.

The dog, dubbed Riona, is under the care of Tails of Hope Rescue, and she is currently being fostered by Bluff City Veterinary Specialists. She suffered fourth-degree burns to her face and left side, and first-degree burns to the other parts of her body.
And what really makes us all shake our heads in sadness for Riona, as well as so many other abused and tortured pets – Riona is nothing short of a love pup who finds joy rolling around in the cool grass, loves playing with the humans who are helping her she has come to adore and just laps up the attention and affection she is offered.
Tails of Hope Dog Rescue set up a fundraiser for Riona on Venmo at TailsofHopeDogRescue, and on PayPal.
