Days ago, a terribly neglected dog was rescued from a sad existence with a clearly negligent owner. The Middle Tennessee Boxer Rescue posted images of the emaciated boxer, dubbed Ray, writing:
This week started off with an urgent transport. This poor guy is not even 25 lbs. He’s clearly got an uphill battle, but our volunteers were on standby last night and in action for anything this am. Welcome sweet Ray to MTBR. More to come…..we are going to focus solely on this baby’s future and leave that past behind ….💙
The images are sad and shocking but a veterinary exam revealed the extent of Ray’s suffering:
His bloodwork is a little wonky but that is to be expected. He’s LOADED with parasites, including the dreaded heart worms( we will get there) Intestinal meds should help get his GI issues healthier , a good diet ( SLOW AND STEADY) should help him gain weight healthily and start to feel better quickly. He was also crawling with fleas who no doubt contribute….he’s got cherry eye……and lots of muscle atrophy.
Ray’s life, prior to being rescued, was pitiful but brighter days are ahead. He has been bathed and is receiving homemade food, and most importantly, veterinary care.
