Hundreds of ticks removed from starving shepherd rescued near Los Angeles

Admin

A young, starving and abandoned shepherd tried her best to survive, but living on the streets and scavenging for food turned out to be nearly impossible. The emaciated dog, covered with hundreds of ticks in her eyes, deep in her ears and between her toes had once waited for her special someone to return, but that never happened.

Eventually she lost faith in humans. Whenever anyone tried to approach her to help, she would run away.

And then came Suzette Hall, whose heart drove her to Linwood to rescue the dog in the memory of her son who loved shepherds because of their compassion and loyalty. Suzette and volunteers set up a humane trap, but the dog was too scared to even get close. Thankfully, morning brought success.

When the frightened dog entered into a resident’s yard, rescuers were able to close the gate, and as the dog fled to the side of the yard, shivering with fear, Suzette assured her that everything was going to be fine, and her life was about to change. Slowly, a lead was secured around the dog’s neck, and she was gently ushered into the trap.

We were all crying. It was so hard on all of us to watch her suffer and watch her just want help. …She will never be alone or abandoned ever again. It’s time for the new beginning.

And now two days later, the shepherd now named Tabatha, no longer is infected with the creeping ticks. More than 100 had been in her eyes, her ears, between her toes and on her body. She loved her bath. She is being fed now and will never go hungry again.

She can finally rest, finally fall deep asleep and not have to keep one eye open. No more waiting for them to come back. She will now know what love is. I promised her when I rescued her that there would be no more suffering.
