A one-year-old German shepherd puppy named Yoda gave his owner quite a scare after escaping from the backyard in Burnley, Lancashire, a town in England a two weeks ago. His owner, Stephen Hunt, was in a panic trying to find his dog to no success and quickly posted Yoda’s photo and information on Facebook, hoping someone would have spotted the beloved dog.
According to Fox News, a neighbor told Hunt he had spotted Yoda running down the M65 highway while traffic continued to speed right by him. When a state police officer spotted the dog and started to chase him, Yoda had other ideas and ran down the grassy median of the busy roadway.
It was then traffic in both directions was shut down while Hunt tried to capture the dog, but Yoda was too frightened to give in. One of Hunt’s friends even employed his own dog to help locate Yoda.
one of my friends has a dog called xena, and he said he would walk along the canal that goes along the motorway. xena has taken him three bridges down on the motorway becasue she scented him out and then I also saw him on the central reservation.
Finally, 18 hours after Yoda escaped from his home, the dog jumped over a gate within the median and was able to be captured and reunited with his owner.
After his dangerous journey, Yoda did suffer from some sore feet issues; his paw pads had been rubbed raw, but he is slowly recovering. It is of interest and perhaps will grab a smile, although this could have easily been a tragic tale, after Yoda arrived home he drank two bottles of water and ate three bowls of food.
Stay safe Yoda.
